I have been through Penn Foundation several times. I want to tell you about my experience with the Staff and the community (my fellow clients). When I was in Inpatient and in Intensive Outpatient , I was treated with respect and felt that we were all equal. Many of the staff are in recovery, they are willing to share their experience strength and hope. Knowing this made me feel more comfortable going to them for advice.
By coming to Penn Foundation, I now have the chance to start my life over. I hope to learn something new to help me in my recovery, or learn what I did wrong in the past which led to relapse.

My best advice to those coming to Penn Foundation, either for inpatient or outpatient can be summed up in three words: HONESTY, OPEN-MINDEDNESS, and WILLINGNESS. This time, I am using those three things. The staff here that know me from before have commented that they see me being honest, open-minded and willing. It helps to know that no matter if its your first time here or your third, you are always welcomed. There are many more things I could say about this program, but the most important are those three words. If you remember them, and practice them, you can achieve sobriety.
Before I close, I would also like to mention that Penn Foundation really helps you with your mental illness. If you are worried that people will judge you for the things you are going through they wont. This program isnt asking for perfection. Remember that no one is perfect, not even the normal people . If you are reading this, I want you to know that God will point you in the right direction if you want it badly enough. If youre not into God, look at it as Good Orderly Direction. Being nervous and scared is normal. Things will get better if you are willing. Give it a chance, it might save your life.
